East Asia, China, Republic Period, ca. 1912 to 1949. A rectangular porcelain plaque, painted with a pair of birds perched upon blooming foliage, perhaps flowering lotus and bamboo, in hues of pink, yellow, cornflower blue, violet, and coral - with grassy, rocky terrain below. To the right is a poem written in black characters with a red signature and seal mark below. The plaque is set in wooden frame with a metal loop atop. Size: 15.75" W x 12.5" H (40 cm x 31.8 cm); 21.4" W x 17.4" H (54.4 cm x 44.2 cm) including frame

  • Condition: Painted porcelain plaque is intact. Painting and inscription/poem are strong. Framing shows some age wear with scuffs and chips here and there, and a diagonal crack at top center.
