Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Chimu culture, ca. 1300 to 1500 CE. A lovely silver and sodalite stone necklace made from ancient beads and a fish shaped tweezer set as a pendant. The beads are strung in modern times on a modern monofilament wire with a barrel clasp; 94.7% to 95.8% silver sheets rolled into 16 oval beads, and 47 sodalite stones. Tweezers, especially of silver, were special tools for hair removal and were often included in burials as grave goods. This one, and similar examples in museums, have holes pierced through for suspension, and it is believed that the owner wore the tweezer as a pendant when not in use.
