Description:

Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Chimu, ca. 1100 to 1450 CE. A fun blackware double-chambered whistling vessel with a smooth, matte finish and a sculpted bird with a long, downward-curving beak seated on the front end above the puck-like chamber. A tall, tapering, conical spout rises from the other side of the chamber, which is spherical, with a pronounced disc foot. When poured this vessel was designed to whistle in order to prevent anyone from swiping the precious liquid within. Size: 9.5" L x 7.5" H (24.1 cm x 19 cm)
