Description:

South America, Atacama Desert, Chile, discovered in 1822 CE. A heavy, stony iron meteorite with neon green crystal olivine deposits over much of the surface. Interestingly, due to weathering, olivine grains from this meteorite strike are only present on the larger specimens like this one. This meteorite split in the atmosphere as it fell in a fireball down to the earth, scattering its fragments across an 8 kilometer long strewn-field. Size: 3.5" W x 2.4" H (8.9 cm x 6.1 cm)
