Pre-Columbian, North Coast of Peru, Chavin, ca. 1200 to 600 BCE. A wonderful handmade pottery vase boasting a cylindrical body, a curved shoulder, and a brief, tubular neck that flares gently outwards to a circular rim. Enveloped in a lustrous taupe-hue, the body of this ancient vessel is decoratively incised with five bands radiating from the neck, each decorated with a series of vertical striations placed in neatly organized rows. A gorgeous example of minimalist art from Chavin culture! Size: 5.125" in diameter x 7.375" H (13 cm x 18.7 cm)
