Central Asia, India/Pakistan, Indus Valley civilization, Harappa / Mohenjo-Daro civilization, ca. 2700 to 2000 BCE. A petite and charming bowl hand built from terracotta with a hemispherical form. The bowl rests on a rounded base, and the walls rise upward to a thin lip. The exterior walls and base are decorated with relief motifs. A cross shape is situated on the center of the base, and petal shapes with rows of small dots radiate from the base towards the rim. This bowl has light traces of beige pigments, and was likely slip covered or painted to highlight the motifs. A lovely example! Size: 1.875" L x 4.5" Diameter (4.8 cm x 11.4 cm)

  • Condition: Professionally repaired, with restoration around 1/4 of the rim and small area of rim opposite. Body repaired from two large pieces. The repairs are well done and difficult to discern. Light mineral deposits and nice patterns.
