Description:

Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Chancay, ca. 800 to 1200 CE. A finely-carved anthropomorphic figure standing atop blocky feet and delineated legs. The figure holds his bent arms against his slender chest above a lightly-rounded abdomen, and planar shoulders gently taper to a stocky neck. Incised diamond-shaped eyes with circular pupils, a petite nose, huge cupped ears, and a small mouth comprise the stylized countenance, all beneath a semicircular cap. Faint traces of red-orange pigmentation create a 'blushing' effect on the cheeks, and lustrous brown patina envelops the entire figure. Size: 2.4" W x 7.2" H (6.1 cm x 18.3 cm); 7.6" H (19.3 cm) on included custom stand.
