Pre-Columbian, Central Coast Peru, Chancay, ca. 800 to 1200 CE. A fine textile weaver's basket, composed of tightly-woven reeds in a rectangular form, with textile-lined frontal lips on the lid and body. The basket contains a myriad of weaving tools including 13 wooden needles; 3 wooden needles with attached wooden spools; 2 wooden needles with pottery spindle whorls; 4 wooden needles with spools of thread; 3 loose wooden spools; 1 wooden comb; and 1 large bunch of multi-colored thread. Size (basket): 6.75" L x 13.5" W x 3.5" H (17.1 cm x 34.3 cm x 8.9 cm).
