Description:

Pre-Columbian, Central Coast Peru, Chancay, ca. 1000 to 1470 CE. A handsome medium-sized pottery jar or olla painted with polychrome pigments. The bulbous body has a gently carinated side, and a rounded but stable base, flaring rim, and twin strap handles to which one has an attached seated figure. The surface is slipped in a warm terracotta orange and decorated with panels on both sides depicting stylized felines in red, black, and white hues. Size: 8.5" Diameter x 9.25" H (21.6 cm x 23.5 cm)
