Description:

Central Asia, Black Sea Region, ca. 1st millennium BCE. A charming cast-bronze finial, perhaps a hair pin, made of a tapered needle-form body and a petite curved top platform. Atop the platform stands an alert canine figure with fused front and back legs, a slender build, a raised head with perky ears, and a tightly coiled tail on the hind end. A fine example covered in mottled brown and green patina. Size: 1.5" W x 5.75" H (3.8 cm x 14.6 cm); 6.3" H (16 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: ex-private Khan family collection, New Jersey, USA, acquired in the 1990s
