Ancient Central / Northern Europe, Celtic Iron Age, ca. 5th to 1st century BCE; Northern Europe, Scandinavia, Viking or Norse culture, ca. 9th to 11th century CE; Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 4th century CE; Western Europe, Medieval Period, ca. 10th to 13th century CE. A fantastic collection of five iron spear heads from various European cultures, comprised of sockets and petaloid blades. The first is narrow and pointed with a faint midrib running from the tip to socket and is perhaps Viking forged. Two others are long and narrow with a heavy patina and great signs of age, probably Roman or Celtic. The central and last spear head are both well preserved with a wide, nearly flat blade, and thick socket, and these are likely Medieval period. Each is covered in a rich russet patina. Size of largest: 10.375" L x 2.375" W (26.4 cm x 6 cm); 11.25" H (28.6 cm) on included custom stand.
