Description:

Native American, North America, Northern Mexico northward to southern New Mexico and Arizona, ca. 1250-1475 CE. Casas Grandes/Ramos culture. Ramos polychrome pottery represent the pinnacle of achievement in Casas Grandes ceramics. The handbuilding process involved a coiling and scraping technique. While early works consisted of redware and brownware, similar to those of the Mogollon, later the Casas Grandes distinctive polychrome varieties developed. Some attribute this development to the influence of West Mexican Nayarit or Jalisco pottery. This example boasts an attractive and dramatic lightning bolt motif so poignant as rain was treasured in the desert clime. Perforations on opposite sides of rim for suspension. 6"H x 6"D at widest point
