Cambodia, Khmer culture, 11-12th Century CE. Carved sandstone lintel fragment with four celestials depicted riding a bull in high relief. All celestials wear crowns with buds on top as well as kilts. Bull has dewlap, ear, horn, hoof and nose detail. Trace remains of paint on faces and bull. Scene set in front of raised floral frame. On museum quality stand. Frieze: 14"H x 12"W, on stand: 16-1/4"H. Provenance: Ex-D. Smith Collection, CA.
