Description:

Charles David Grolle (American, b. 1878, active in 1920s), untitled oil on board, signed Chaz David Grolle at lower right. A vibrant painting likely created en plein air and depicting two women cooking over a smoky outdoor fire pit before traditional adobe dwellings, replete with chili ristras hanging below one of the kivas and cooking vessels on the ground. Although not much is known about Charles David Grolle, his style and theme aligns with those of the Taos and Santa Fe art colonies that emerged in the early 20th century. Size: 20" W x 15.5" H (50.8 cm x 39.4 cm); 21.25" W x 16.5" H (54 cm x 41.9 cm) including frame
