Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A hand-built and extensively decorated bowl of a deep, rounded form, the exterior walls featuring -from base to rim- a central 10-pointed star, a five-petaled flower with 5-pointed stellar decorations on each, and numerous fine-line, sinuous, wavy, and ridged bands beneath the rim, all in vermilion red and chocolate brown on a beige ground. Size: 7.25" in diameter x 3.625" H (18.4 cm x 9.2 cm)

Provenance: Ex-Harvey Collection, acquired prior to 1972
