Description:

**First Time At Auction**

Ancient Seas, Middle Miocene to end of Pliocene eras, ca. 28 to 1.5 million years ago. A special fossilized tooth from a prehistoric megalodon shark! This tooth has beautiful lighter colorations with a matte root with beige and dark russet brown patches. The bourlette area is a nearly perfect triangle shape that mirrors the pointed tip of this tooth. The enamel is a gleaming warm beige with pinkish tones and speckles of caramel colors and striations. The enamel is naturally reflective due to the fossilization process and still retains much of the serrated edges from the root to tip. Megalodons were one of the largest predators that the ocean ever saw, but their teeth are the only parts that remain since their cartilage bodies could not fossilize. Depending on the minerals in the sediment, their teeth can develop a variety of colors, such as this stunning example! Size: 3.9" W x 4.8" H (9.9 cm x 12.2 cm); 4.875" H (12.4 cm) on included custom stand.
