Description:

Ancient Central Asia, Bactria-Margiana (BMAC), ca. 2nd millennium BCE. A fine stamp seal carved from gray-green stone of a rectangular form bearing the image of a minimalist feline figure on the stamp face. The cat is shown looking backwards with its head turned towards its S-shaped tail and standing atop a pair of bulbous feet. The creature is enclosed within a petite square which is further outlined with miniscule dots compartmentalized within scalloped borders. A thick ring handle on the verso enabled the stamper to easily grasp the tool when making impressions. Custom putty impression included. Size: 1.2" W x 1.125" H (3 cm x 2.9 cm); 2.125" H (5.4 cm) on included custom stand.
