Native American, North America, United States, Athens, Tennessee, Eastern Woodland, Archaic period, 2000 BCE to 200 CE. A hand-carved stone pipe with a slightly conical shape and a circular cavity at the wider end. The round cavity is grooved on the inside as if carved away from a grinding or twisting motion. The surface of the stone is unpolished and this pipe seems to be unfinished since there is only one large bore hole. Lucite stand for photography purposes only. Size: 3.6" W x 6.75" H (9.1 cm x 17.1 cm)

Provenance: private southwestern Pennsylvania, USA collection, acquired prior to 2000
