Ancient Southeast Asia, Thailand, Ban Chiang, ca. 300 BCE. A gorgeous pottery jar hand-painted with mesmerizing orange-on-beige decoration that nicely complements its elegant silhouette. The bulging body is adorned with interlocking S-motifs, while vertical striations embellish the flared spout. The pedestal foot is additionally painted with thick, curved lines, and a chain-link pattern and horizontal rings encircle the leg. An attractive example of ancient Ban Chiang artistry! Size: 6.5" Diameter x 11.4" H (16.5 cm x 29 cm)
