Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 2nd to 4th century CE. A lovely free-blown, near-translucent glass bottle of a pale-green coloration. The vessel has a slight concave base with a rough pontil, smooth walls, rounded shoulders, a constricted neck with a funnel-form mouth, and a flared rim with a folded lip. The tall stature of the container indicates that it was used to hold greater quantities of scented oils or other, more-uncommon liquids. Faint areas of rainbow-hued iridescence provide a wonderful complementarity to the muted tone of the body, making this a beautiful example of Roman glass-blowing proficiency! Size: 5" H (12.7 cm).
