Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A beautiful and wearable 20K gold pendant in the form of a large grape leaf with small grape clusters throughout. The pendant was formed from two halves - perhaps by gently working thin sheets of gold and then joining together with an ancient soldering technique - with a small wire bale loop at the top. A rare and attractive piece of ancient Roman gold! Size: 1.2" W x 1.4" H (3 cm x 3.6 cm); quality of gold: 20K; total weight: 9.1 grams.
