Etruria, northern Italy, Etrusco-Corinthian, ca. 630 to 540 BCE. A charming aryballos jar of a spherical form and painted with black concentric banding on a beige ground. The bulbous body is topped with an attenuated neck, a broad, flared rim, and a ribbon-form handle connecting rim to shoulder. This miniature pot was used to hold precious oils in the bath and gymnasium. Size: 3" Diameter x 3.125" H (7.6 cm x 7.9 cm)
