Ancient Near East, Southwestern Iran, Elamite culture, ca. 1900 to 1300 BCE. A gathering of 2 axe heads from the ancient Elamites. First is a bronze axe head with a trapezoidal blade and a socketing shaft bearing a trio of nubbin protrusions. The larger axe head is cast from copper and features a minimalist utilitarian design. Each artifact is enveloped with layers of naturally-occurring patina in hues of brown, green, russet, and azurite. Size of largest: 4.75" L x 1.125" W x 4.125" H (12.1 cm x 2.9 cm x 10.5 cm)

Provenance: private Everett, Massachusetts, USA collection, acquired 2018; ex-Broukal collection, United Kingdom, formed 1950s, thence by descent
