Description:

Ancient Central Europe, probably Austria, Celtic culture, Late Bronze Age, ca. 8th to 5th century BCE. A cast-bronze axe head of a distinctly Celtic form with a hollow socketing shaft surmounted on top with a narrow loop. The elongated blade features tapered heads that culminate in a sharpened edge, and the lower body bears several impressed striations meant for increasing the gripping area of hide wrappings. Smooth green patina has enveloped this weapon over time to imbue it with a lovely appearance. Size: 4.9" L x 1.625" W (12.4 cm x 4.1 cm)
