Ancient Central Asia, Pakistan / Afghanistan, Bactrian, ca. 1st millennium BCE. A stunning necklace comprised of twenty-eight carnelian beads of various shapes, twelve small periwinkle-hued faience beads, fifteen larger diamond-shaped faience beads with incised circular details, and one-hundred-and-sixty-nine thin, disc-shaped carved shell beads. Central to the necklace is a large circular carved shell seal with seven sets of triangular shapes, each comprised of three smaller drilled circles, surrounding a central drilled circle. The seal has incised ridges along its circumference, with a raised and biconically-drilled loop on the verso for suspension. Restrung using modern materials and absolutely wearable! Size: 24" L (61 cm).
