Description:

Near East / Western Asia, Persia (Iran), Nishapur area, ca. 9th century or slightly later CE. An early example of Nishapur's ground breaking pottery, a pitcher with a white ground and black fine line painted motifs. The white glaze - really a creamy color - is over a coarse red clay. The black lines form floral, vine, and abstract geometric designs, dense around the neck, zoomorphic handle, and body, and more sparse on the interior upper portion of the slightly flared neck. A pretty vessel! Size: 5.7" W x 7.5" H (14.5 cm x 19 cm)

This piece has been tested using thermoluminescence (TL) and has been found to be ancient and of the period stated. A full report will accompany purchase.
