Description:

Ancient Near East / Asia Minor, Anatolia, ca. 3200 to 2300 BCE. A hand-built terracotta fertility idol with a hollow, conical body, perky breasts held aloft by a single sinuous arm, and a tapered neck. The abstract visage is composed of a prominent nose between two coffee-bean-shaped eyes and a raised headband which flares backwards along her brow. Fertility idols like this example were first produced as early as the 9th millennium BCE and were found throughout the ancient Near East by around the early 6th millennium BCE. Size: 2.7" W x 6.1" H (6.9 cm x 15.5 cm)
