Description:

Ancient Near East, Anatolia, ca. 2nd millennium BCE. A fascinating bronze idol of a stylized yet minimalist form characteristic of ancient Anatolia, depicted standing upon slightly bent legs with arms out and legs together. The meaning and function of ancient Anatolian idols remains an enigma as we have no written records from this era. Also interesting, most ancient idols that have survived were made from marble or stone, so a bronze figure like this example is rare indeed! Size: 1.1" W x 2.6" H (2.8 cm x 6.6 cm); 3.3" H (8.4 cm) on included custom stand.
