Asia Minor, Anatolia peninsula, ca. 3200 to 2300 BCE. A hand built pottery female fertility idol with an abstract body presenting diminutive arms and pendulant breasts, her torso incised with numerous necklaces, her belly protruding as if pregnant or suggestive of fertility. The figure's minimalistic face is delineated solely with pierced eyes, a protruding nose with pierced nostrils, and a faint slit mouth, and is adorned with a pronounced halo-like headdress. The entire surface is finished in a rich cream-hued slip. Size: 3.625" W x 6.25" H (9.2 cm x 15.9 cm)
