Description:

**Originally Listed At $600**

Ancient Near East, Anatolia, ca. 2nd millennium BCE. A quixotic cast-bronze idol of an abstract anthropomorphic form with a slender, bar-shaped body, a pair of arms draped from planar shoulders, and a circular head absent of any discernible facial features. Slight ridges along the outer peripheries show this figure was cast in a bivalve mold, suggesting that idols of this type were mass-produced at one time. Layers of light green, dark green, and russet patina cover the figure and only add to its nebulous nature. The meaning and function of ancient Anatolian idols remains an enigma without any written record from this era. Most ancient idols are made from marble or stone, so a bronze figure like this example is rare indeed! Custom museum-quality display stand included. Size: 1.9" W x 5.125" H (4.8 cm x 13 cm); 5.8" H (14.7 cm) on included custom stand.
