Description:

Native American, Southern Colorado Plateau, Anasazi (Ancestral Puebloan), Tularosa, ca. 1200 to 1350 CE. A fine pottery bowl created using the coil-and-scrape method. The vessel is defined by a round but stable base, squat walls, and a thick rim surrounding the shallow basin. Within the basin is a register of jet-black linear and geometric motifs that extends roughly three-quarters down towards the center, and the basin center as well as the exterior walls are unadorned. Size: 5.625" W x 2.5" H (14.3 cm x 6.4 cm).

  • Condition: Repaired from multiple pieces, with minor restoration in some small areas, and resurfacing and light overpainting along new material and break lines. Minor nicks and abrasions to rim and base, with light fading to original pigmentation. Light earthen deposits throughout, and nice craquelure to areas of original black pigment.
