Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A polychrome earthenware figural effigy vessel depicting a kneeling woman with her long and rather slender arms upraised, her hands placed upon her chest, wearing a striped skirt, double 'beaded' armlets, red painted adornments just below her shoulders, shell-shaped ear ornaments, a red painted necklace, and a headdress adorned with a shell at the center of its band. Her visage is exceedingly expressive, presenting coffee bean shaped eyes, a protruding nose, and an open toothy smile. Size: 8" W x 12" H (20.3 cm x 30.5 cm)
