Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A petite and adorable standing male figure, hand-built from orange-red terracotta. Attenuated limbs are integral with a wide, flat chest, with incised lines delineating each leg while drawing attention to the male genitalia. The comparatively-oversized head boasts exaggerated facial features, such as prominent cheek bones, a crooked nose, and a toothless grin, with twin semicircular ears displaying several notched grooves below a tall, squared-off forehead. Size: 4" H (10.2 cm).

Provenance: ex-collection of the late Peter Arnovick, San Francisco, California, USA
