Amazon Basin, Brazil, Karaja (Iny) people, 20th century CE. A white pottery figure of a female with a voluptuous lower body and long black hair, seated, with a bowl in her lap. The pottery is white, with black painted designs all over it. Karaja pottery was originally made by the women in the society to be children's toys for teaching about their culture, but since contact with Westerners, they have shifted to also make them for export. Size: 2.4" W x 5.85" H (6.1 cm x 14.9 cm)
