Description:

China, ca. probably Qing Dynasty, last half of 19th to first half of 20th century CE. When one sees this they will surely exclaim "Some Pig!" Large and chubby copper pig adorned in the Chinese Cloisonne style. Cloisonné is an ancient technique for decorating metalwork objects with colored material held in place or separated by metal strips or wire. In this case our adorable pig has been liberally adorned with colored glass in hues of green, blue, red, yellow and black in scrolling motif set inside of gold & copper wire. His cute corkscrew tail and long circular snout adds to his appeal. Size: 23.5" L x 11" H (59.7 cm x 27.9 cm)

Our XRF analysis of metal content shows body of pig comprised of 97% copper with small amounts of zinc - showing this is not a modern copy made of high zinc content brass.
