Near East, Anatolia or Iran, Achaemenid Empire, ca. 6th to 5th century BCE. A gorgeous earring of wearing form that is formed from 83% to 84.02% gold. The lunate earring body is decorated with a pair of incised birds flanking a central, diamond-shaped symbol, and several petite perforations further embellish the surrounding areas. Five spherical ornaments line the lower periphery of the earring while a sturdy ear wire is attached to the top of the body while curving high above. Size: 1.2" W x 1.58" H (3 cm x 4 cm); gold quality: 83% to 84% (equivalent to 18K+ to 20K+); weight: 6.2 grams.
