Description:

Near East, probably made in Khorasan, northeast Persia (Iran) or Afghanistan, Samanid period, ca. 9th century CE. A beautiful, deep-bodied creme slip ceramic bowl with beautiful black motifs. These form a thick band across the center of the vessel and two trios of spirals at ninety degrees from the edges of the band on the interior under the rim. Size: 9.5" W x 4" H (24.1 cm x 10.2 cm)

  • Condition: Repaired from multiple pieces, with some tiny areas of modern clay used to fill in the break lines. Also some small chips to the rim. Motifs are nicely preserved.
