Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Michoacan, Tarascan people, Post Classic period, ca. 1200 to 1521 CE. A collection of 7 miniature vessels, most with tripodal legs and a very tiny beige vessel with a loop handle. This miniature jar may have been worn as an effigy pendant or amulet since it would hold a thimbleful at most. The other vessels are slipped red on beige and 4 have zoomorphic motifs, abstract painted reptilian / bird creatures with a sinuous tail and curved beak. These may have been offerings or grave goods that were buried with the deceased. Size largest: 2.5" Diameter x 1.5" H (6.4 cm x 3.8 cm)

Provenance: private Golden, Colorado, USA collection, by descent, acquired in Mexico before 1970
