Description:

Pre-Columbian, Colombia, Tairona, ca. 10th to 16th century CE. A collection of hand carved bone figural finials or amulets- perhaps made from ungulate, or even human bone! The simplistic visages are rendered into the surface atop slender necks / torsos. Bone carvings are much rarer that pottery or other materials, and the purpose of these carvings is unknown. Possibly used as burial offerings or guardians, they might represent ancestors and protectors. Size: 2" L x 1" W (5.1 cm x 2.5 cm)
