Description:

Pre-Columbian, Bolivia, Tiahuanaco (Tiwanaku), ca. 400 to 1100 CE. A delightful ensemble of 4 pottery keros, all with similar forms of planar bases and flared walls. The largest, blackware vessel and mid-sized redware pot each boast a raised, horizontal band around their periphery with incised, glyph-like motifs further embellishing the band of the more petite dish. Alternatively, the most petite jar features smooth exterior walls, and the second largest displays a relief register of zoomorphic designs resembling fish. Size of largest (blackware vessel): 4.3" Diameter x 4.9" H (10.9 cm x 12.4 cm)

  • Condition: All have chips, nicks, and abrasions as shown, all commensurate with age. Stable hairline fissure to wall of largest and modern burnishing to vessel with relief band of fish. Otherwise, all 4 are mostly intact with light earthen deposits in areas and liberal remains of incised and relief detail.
