Native American, Southwestern United States, Hopi Pueblo, ca. late 20th to 21st century CE. A collection of hand carved wooden kachina dolls including a Mudhead (Koyemsi), Crow Mother (Angwusnasomtaqa), and Hillili. The Mudhead is standing on a natural wood burl base, with rabbit fur and yarn decorating his wood body. The Hillili has a carved red fox pelt attached to his rear, horsehair tassels on his chin, fluffy dyed ostrich feathers, and carrying yucca leaf whips. The largest is titled "Crow Mother" and signed on the base by Roy Fredericks, a Hopi Pueblo carver, and embellished with rabbit fur, which chicken / pheasant feathers, a stiff canvas cloth shawl, and yarn tassels. Size of largest: 6.5" L x 5.5" W x 17" H (16.5 cm x 14 cm x 43.2 cm)

  • Condition: Carved feathers on the right side of Crow Mother are repaired and reattached, break line is nearly invisible on frontside. The other 2 kachinas are in excellent condition. Mudhead is missing feathers on his head. Some dust accumulation in recessed areas of all three. Crow Mother is signed on the base.
