Description:

Native American, United States, central and southern Plains, Plains Indians, ca. early 20th century CE. A hand-carved wooden club with a bulbous beater head perhaps formed from a burl. The integral handle tapers to a narrow point and has an original leather strap fed through a pierced suspension hole. Faint traces of yellow ochre pigment visible on the head suggest this club was at one time painted with bright pigments. Size: 12.4" L x 3.7" W (31.5 cm x 9.4 cm)
