Description:

Native American, Pacific Northwest, ca. mid 20th century CE. A whimsical smoking pipe, made from alder wood, with an antler mouthpiece and inlaid copper bowl. Perched atop the stem is a trio of eagles: two parents and one eaglet in the nest, its head angled upward, its beak opened wide with its tongue projecting outward from the mouth. The story told by this pipe is clear: the eaglet is crying out for food, and the parents are providing it. The wood has a beautiful grain and the figures are nicely incised with details. The copper bowl has aged to a gorgeous blue-green patina. The mouth of the pipe shows clear signs of use. Size: 11.45" W x 2.5" H (29.1 cm x 6.4 cm); 4.85" H (12.3 cm) on included custom stand.
