Description:

North America, Mexico, ca. 20th century CE. An intriguing taxidermy rooster standing with clawed feet atop a wooden perch. The dignified bird turns its head to the left and has a myriad of brown, orange, and white feathers adorning its rotund body. Atop its back is a hand-built leather model of a charro saddle with a deep seat, a thick hand grip, and a wood seat and back collar. A taxidermy piece like this example was perhaps intended solely for display purposes, though it may have been used as an extravagant child's toy. Size: 16" L x 21" H (40.6 cm x 53.3 cm)

  • Condition: Losses to small tufts of feathers, with a few stable fissures to wooden base, and some wear to saddle. Taxidermy to rooster is very well done.
