Northwest Coast, Kwakiutl, 20th century. Signed "PATTY FAWN" on interior. A hand-made sterling silver cuff bracelet engraved with the visage of a totemic animal. Ms. Fawn creates pieces with a variety of mythical/traditional animals - eagles, turtles, loons, beavers, and bears. Patty Fawn is a member of the Lelooska tribe of Washington state; she is the sister of Chief Lelooska and among the best art carvers and jewelry makers (along with the likes of Bill Reid). Her family is originally from Oklahoma of Cherokee heritage; however, they moved to the Northwest coast in the 1960s and were adopted by the Kwakiutl Tribe. Size: 2.4" W x 1.9" H (6.1 cm x 4.8 cm); (wrist opening): 0.8" W (2 cm); total weight: 12.5 grams. Precious metal quality: 93% silver.
