Native American, central North America, Sioux Indians, ca. mid to late 20th century CE. A gorgeous choker necklace with three strands of slender ungulate bone tubes, blue and black resin beads, ovoid leather spacer panels, and brass spheres. Central to the necklace is a mother-of-pearl (nacre) disc above a pair of pierced cowrie shells. The terminals of the leather necklace strand can be tied behind ones neck for a stylized addition to any ensemble. Size of central disc: 1.5" D (3.8 cm); with ties extended, size: 31.5" W x 1.5" H (80 cm x 3.8 cm)
