Description:

Native American / First Nations, Northwest Coast United States, Alaska or Canada, Inupiaq/Inuit people, ca. 20th century CE. A fascinating soapstone carving of an abstract form featuring a jagged bending shape with protruding anthropomorphic faces. The sculpture shows 5 faces in total - 3 on one side and 2 on the other - all quite stylized with minimalist features of a rectangular nose and petite slits for eyes and mouths. Though what it represents is unclear, the captivating sculpture is full of movement, stretching outwards in different directions with the faces granting it a spiritual presence. Size: 10.5" W x 11.3" H (26.7 cm x 28.7 cm)
