Southeast Asia, Indonesia, ca. early to mid 20th century CE. A personal ceremonial kris (keris) sword with a hand-carved wooden handle that features a pair of abstract anthropomorphic maskettes along the interior curve, and the 91.28% silver spacer bulb is inset with faceted stones of four red rubies and four colorless zicrons. The blade has a straight profile with beautiful nickel veins and a narrow fuller down the center below a projecting hand guard. The top of the wooden sheath features a dramatically flared guard protector, and the interior wooden blade housing is protected by a 99.4% silver jacket adorned with foliate motifs. Size (blade): 14.25" L x 1" W (36.2 cm x 2.5 cm); (in sheath): 20" L x 8" W (50.8 cm x 20.3 cm): quality of silver: 91.28% to 99.4%
