Southeast Asia, Indonesia, ca. mid 20th century CE. A pair of mirror-image finials, each hand-carved from wood, including ornate openwork, and brightly painted with green and white. Each finial features a profile image of a serpent-like creature with a large, spiky crest and, perched just behind the head, a bird. Round, decorative mirrors adorn each one at the base of the animal's body. Size of one (they are identical): 6" W x 32.2" H (15.2 cm x 81.8 cm)
