West Africa, Cote d'Ivoire, Baule people, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A framed collection of 3 hand-carved wooden slingshot handles, each an anthropomorphized shape, the spread legs forming the prongs for the bands. Two are nude women and the central sling is a janiform figure with incised linear markings around the body. All have a nice, smooth patina from use and touch and are mounted on a leather backing in a modern wood frame, ready for displaying. Size (largest sling): 8.25" L x 3" W (21 cm x 7.6 cm); (frame): 19" L x 16" H (48.3 cm x 40.6 cm)

Provenance: ex-private Bishop Family Trust collection, the Trust of the late Bill Bishop, a noted antiquarian with shops in Scottsdale, Arizona and Allenspark, Colorado, USA, acquired before 2010
